Melbourne 2030 is the Victorian government's 30-year plan to manage growth and change across metropolitan Melbourne and the surrounding region. The plan aims to prevent excessive urban sprawl by containing development within urban growth boundaries. Melbourne 2030 also aims to protect 12 Green Wedge areas, including parts of Nillumbik.
The Green Wedge Areas are outside the urban growth boundary. Development in these areas aims to be lower than that within the urban growth boundaries, so that the environmental aspects of the areas are protected.

Reduce – Reuse- Recycle!
A message from children across the world. US kids Amanda and Meghan found a great recycling resource and their teacher, Rachel Martin helped them to share it with Friends of Nillumbik. We are chuffed. We’ve added it to our Links page. Here it is https://www.parentgiving.com/elder-care/reduce-reuse-recycle/ Take a look, it’s great.

The WCA is a very active Warrandyte Community residents’ group which was incorporated in 2002. It has as its mission the defence of the character and heritage of the township, the protection of the environment and the Green Wedge and the promotion of sporting, educational, recreational and cultural activities. The WCA has done much work with local councils to raise community awareness of bushfire threat. Their recent campaign “Be Ready Warrandyte – Living With Bushfire Risk” gives valuable information and is vital to keeping the community safe.
Their tools page contains lots of useful stuff, including a link to the video made by Manningham City Council entitled "Don't Wait And See", which talks specifically about the Warrandyte area and the risks faced by local residents. This video has been highly praised by state parliamentarians, Emergency Services leaders and a number of overseas bodies. Check it out using the link below.
