Friends of Nillumbik makes submissions to Council on behalf of Nillumbik residents and ratepayer but also responds to State and Federal Government initiatives. We present some of those submissions here.

Friends of Nillumbik Inc.  presentation on the Council Budget, June 10, 2014

Some submitters seek to exploit Council rate rises for political and other nefarious purposes.  Friends of Nillumbik has no intention of doing that.  We understand for this municipality to fulfil the purpose given to it when it was created, then rate rises often higher than adjoining municipalities, are unavoidable.

FoN presentation on Town Square (Planning C’ttee 11th March, 2014)

FoN’s objection relates to the construction of the two food and drink premises, owned by council and leased to private operators.  We support the other upgrades to the town square except the proposed tree removals made necessary by the construction of the two cafes.  If the cafes were deleted, the trees could be retained.

Objection to application 558/2013/06P ( 9 Arthurs Street, Eltham – Eltham Town Square)

Wed 14 August, 2013

Nillumbik Shire Council has called for submissions from the public for Amendment C60. This amendment is vital to the future of the historic township of Hurstbridge. It aims to include the Hurstbridge Township Strategy, accepted by NSC in 2002, in the Nillumbik Planning Scheme.   C60 will introduce policies and controls to help protect the unique character of Hurstbridge's built environment along the main street, when new developments are proposed.  It is important that our supporters write to Senior Strategic Planner, Alison Fowler in support of Amendment C60.
